A 2025 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial used hydrolysed collagen at exactly this dose — 3,000 mg/day for 180 days — and found statistically significant improvement in WOMAC pain and function scores versus placebo in adults with knee osteoarthritis.
Glucosamine and chondroitin are included at the doses from the landmark NEJM GAIT trial; with clearer benefit concentrated in the moderate-to-severe pain subgroup.
